Privacy Policy

Users from the EU should be aware that our website is not GDPR compliant.

Our website is mainly for Chinese and English speakers. Since neither of these languages is widely spoken in the EU and we do not understand EU law, we ask users located in the EU to ensure that your actions do not put us in violation of EU law.

Next we’ll introduce the cookies that may appear during your visit.

Google Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to analyze which articles are well written and to improve the content and style of our future articles.

We rarely open Google Analytics to see this, Google naturally has their set of privacy handling policies. We just want to know which articles are really well-written, and without the ability to engage in user analysis and access logs, we have to use off-the-shelf analytics tools.

Ads

Third party vendors, including Google (actually only Google is our third party vendor), use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings.

You may opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Other cookies

For example, when you clicked the cookie consent banner, I think it will store a cookie to make it not showing up again.

We have some games and calculators on this website, which will store cookies to store the previous settings.

Other things

We have to mention you that Cloudflare, the CDN of our website, can also record locations of your visit. It claims it will not violate your privacy, and I don’t see anything valuable from their free ‘analytics’.

Except above, we collect no data from your visit, and will not install other cookies on your browser. You may press F12 - Application - Cookies to check.

Why we are not GDPR compiant

You see, these tools are all easy to install, just with some one-liner codes. But the opt-out is quite difficult for us to implement. I’m just some naive student, not a frontend developer. We believe Google, as a tech giant, even the lawyers they hired have written more code than I've even read. BTW, this is just some personal blog site, you can read them without any cookie, as all contents are hardcoded into HTML, without some fancy javascript thingy that loads the content after you open. One of my friends uses curl to visit the internet, and he can view my website just as anybody else.
